Design and Base

Slab thickness is calculated not "by experience" but for the actual load: forklift axle weight with cargo, rack post pressure on the footing, and traffic intensity. For warehouses with front-loading forklifts, 150–180 mm with fiber reinforcement is usually enough; for tall racking and narrow-aisle equipment, thickness increases to 200–250 mm with double mesh reinforcement. A mistake at this stage can't be fixed with a coating — the slab will crack along the lines of highest stress.

Half of a floor's service life is determined below the concrete. The ground is compacted in layers, topped with a wedged gravel bed, then a waterproofing membrane that keeps cement laitance from bleeding into the base. If the base settles unevenly, the slab will work in bending and crack even with flawless concrete. That's why we test the base's flatness and density with instruments before pouring, not after.

Laser levels and vibrating screeds set the surface flatness; power-trowel finishing in multiple passes, with curing time between them, sets the final strength. For Class A warehouses we target FM2 flatness tolerances; for narrow-aisle equipment, the stricter FM1 — where a deviation of a few millimeters already affects a forklift mast's operation.
